Sign up for language courses - you can choose from 17 languages

From 15 December, students can start registering for language courses in the study information system. All others interested in joining our courses are welcome to fill out their continuing education learner applications.
The University of Tartu Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures offers various language courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. In the spring semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, you can choose from 17 languages: Ancient Greek, Chinese, Czech, English, Estonian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian. In addition, we offer several cultural courses.
Choose the language you want to study from the list above and see the courses available this semester. Find the instructions for registration here.
Registration for autumn semester language courses is open from 15 December to 11 February. Language lessons start in the third week of February and last until the end of May. Classes take place 1-2 times a week.

Musician Kadri Voorand to be the new Professor of Liberal Arts at the University of Tartu
In the coming academic year, singer, pianist and composer Kadri Voorand will become the new Professor of Liberal Arts at the University of Tartu, with a lecture course focusing on life-changing creation. She will be succeeded by Peeter Jalakas, former professor and director, who will participate in a public discussion titled “Feeling and meaning” in the attic hall of Tartu Cathedral on the evening of 23 May.
Career conference „To new hights with a PhD degree!“
On 16 May, the Estonian Doctoral School Career Conference will be held in Tallinn to discuss the value of doctoral studies and the career prospects of doctoral students. All Estonian doctoral students and those interested in doctoral studies are welcome to attend.
