Neljapäeval, 11. oktoobril kell 10.15 peab klassikalise filoloogia osakonnas Rooma teatrielu käsitleva külalisloengu Dr. Joachim Fugmann Konstanzi ülikoolist. Loeng "Roman Theatre Outside the Urbs" toimub Jakobi 2-110 inglise keeles.
Dr. Joachim Fugmanni loengu abstrakt:
"Theatre performances, together with gladiatorial combats and animal chasing in the amphi-theatre as well as chariot racing in the Circus constituted the classical trio of the Roman "show business" from the Republic until Late Antiquity – both in Rome and Italy as well as in the provinces of the Imperium Romanum. Until today, the appeal of the theatre and its significance in Roman society is documented by impressive ruins of Roman theatres. Moreover, many inscriptions from the context of the theatre – on-site or in museums – confront us directly with various aspects and questions regarding the ancient theatre business. By looking at a range of topics from the theatre’s importance for cities and society to the theatre architecture, the financing and organizing of stage plays, the programme (mime, pantomime) as well as the legal and social status of the actors, this talk will give an introduction to the theatre business outside the Urbs with particular consideration of the Roman West."
