Call for papers
Baltic Languages and White Nights
University of Tartu, 13–14 June 2014
The Language Centre and the Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics of Tartu University invite you to participate in the international conference on Baltic linguistics that continues the series of conferences Baltic Days and White Nights started in St Petersburg in June 2008. The main theme of this conference is Typology and contacts of Baltic and Finnic languages and literatures; thus the conference welcomes also literary scholars whose research focuses on Baltic literature and contacts of Baltic and Finno-Ugric literatures (including literary relations, translation, reception, etc).
Dates and venue
The conference takes place 13-14 June (Friday and Saturday) at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Tartu (Jakobi 2, Tartu).
Please send your abstract (2500–4000 characters) to tiina.kattel [ät] ut.ee by 28th March, 2014. Include your name, affiliation (university or other institution) and e-mail address. Abstracts are welcome in English and the Baltic languages. All abstracts will be reviewed by an international committee. We will notify you about the acceptance of your paper by 1st May, 2014.
Participants will be given 20 minutes for their presentations, followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion. The choice of language should be made by the participant: we kindly ask you to aim to an optimal comprehension of your presentation.
The participation fee is 30 € that will cover 3 coffee breaks and the conference dinner, as well as the necessary conference materials. The lunches are not included in the fee, but there is a variety of restaurants and cafés in the close proximity of the university.
We are going to set up a conference website with further, continuously updated information on important organisational matters by the end February 2014.
