The 6th International Tartu Conference on Canadian Studies
Forgetting and Remembering
1-3 October 2010
University of Tartu
The conference seeks to explore Canadian history, politics, society, culture and literature through the perspective of forgetting and remembering. Forgetting, remembering and the dynamics between the two as theorised by Ernest Renan and Paul Ricoeur could serve as possible starting points of this inquiry, but it is definitely not limited to these. We welcome case studies and theoretical papers as well as comparative analyses of Canada and other countries. A special narrower focus of the conference is on the second generation. Revisiting Marcus Lee Hansen's thesis could be a trigger in dealing with the experience of the second generation in present-day Canada. Again, comparative perspectives with other countries are encouraged.
