In total, you can learn more than 20 different languages at the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures.
A variety of courses are taught on the basis of English, including Estonian, Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Latvian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Swedish. Estonian intensive courses are also taught on the basis of Russian.
The language courses are free of charge for the students of the University of Tartu. Students from other Estonian universities (i.e. visiting students) and non-students can also register to the courses if there are places available.

All course schedules are based on the university's academic calendar. The academic school year starts at the end of August/beginning of September. The length of the course is marked in the course description and schedule.
The English/German language test consist of four parts:
- Ability to understand spoken English/German
- Ability to speak English/German
- Ability to write in English/German
- Reading ability and comprehension
