The network project is focused on teacher mobility. This is the most effective form of mobility, since a single trip provides an opportunity for the education of many students. With the help of the Nordplus teacher mobility grants the most excellent scholars in the field from the leading universities in Scandinavia may share their knowledge to the students on other universities. Students thus have the opportunity to be taught by teachers from other countries and other disciplines and with different perspectives than those of the students’ own department.
The teacher mobility is also valuable for the smaller departments of the network with only a few academic teachers and with limited resources (for example the departments of the Baltic countries). The Nordplus mobility grants make it possible to let the students all over the Nordic-Baltic area personally meet the most active and excellent teachers and scholars as lecturers on courses at their own departments. It means a dissemination of knowledge and excellence to all the departments of the Nordic-Baltic area. The personal meeting with the scholars gives the students a direct insight into active research and a training for high-qualified thinking. The mobility grants are also used for travel in connection with the development of common courses and course materials.
Student mobility is also an important part of the network activities. It is important that students will be able to take part in specialized courses in the field not given at the home department. It is also valuable for MA students to get access to the competences and libraries of the partner departments during their work with their theses. It develops the competence of the students on the smaller departments and is a possibility for the larger departments to share their competence.
