Literature presumed guilty or the powers of imposture

At a time when fake news and conspiracy are taking over our society, it is perhaps more necessary than ever to look at what literature tells us about imposture. Literary texts remind us that deception is not always done for personal gain or advantage. It is also a positive way to be someone else, to refuse to be locked into a fixed identity. By modifying the relation between truth and falsity, identity and knowledge, imposture forces both characters and readers to investigate. It questions the capacity of literature to make sense of the world.

Everybody is welcome!
